On Sunday, November 17, 532 cyclists from 36 countries took on the challenge of tough weather conditions while riding through the breathtaking natural scenery and historic surroundings of Antalya.

As part of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series, the international cycling event UCI Nirvana Gran Fondo World Series Antalya began at 10:00 AM from the front of Nirvana Cosmopolitan Hotel, featuring both long and short course options. Now in its fourth edition, the UCI Nirvana Gran Fondo World Series Antalya offered cyclists a world-class race experience through the breathtaking natural beauty and historical richness of Antalya. As one of the most prestigious Gran Fondo events in the cycling world, the race once again attracted global attention.

As a qualifying stage for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, the Antalya race distinguishes itself from other Gran Fondo events. This status brought together hundreds of amateur cyclists from both Türkiye and abroad. Held across three distinct routes, the event was organized by Mooves Event under the main sponsorship of Nirvana Hotels, with the support of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye, the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Turkish Cycling Federation. Regional sponsors included Fraport TAV Antalya Airport, Corendon Airlines, AG Tohum, Arso İnşaat, Shimano, and Bisan.

The event officially started at 10:00 AM on Sunday, November 17, in front of Nirvana Cosmopolitan Hotel, with two routes: a 98 km long course and a 66 km AG Tohum short course, both designed in accordance with UCI standards for amateur cyclists. The race was flagged off by Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin, President of the Turkish Cycling Federation Emin Müftüoğlu, Nirvana Hotels CEO Ali Uçaş, Muratpaşa District Governor İhsan Kara, Corendon Airlines Deputy General Manager Berna Oskay, Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Yavuz Gürhan, Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Candemir Zoroğlu, and Vice President of the Turkish Cycling Federation Fikret Hayali.

Cyclists navigated challenging weather conditions along a fast and picturesque course that passed through the ancient city of Perge, Düden Waterfalls, and forest trails, highlighting Antalya’s unique combination of natural beauty and cultural heritage.

Determination Shines in the Paracycling Stage

In a stage dedicated to inclusivity, athletes competing in various paracycling categories demonstrated exceptional determination and perseverance. Their performances once again underscored how barriers can be overcome through the power of sport.

With its bike-friendly hotels, cycling events, dedicated bike paths, and active cycling communities, Antalya continues to strengthen its position as a premier cycling city and is preparing to host the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in 2029.
